Randy Hein and the Place Community host keynote speakers Jamie Howison, and Gord Johnson from Winnipeg's St. Benedict's Table who plan to make the case for immersing (or re-immersing) the church in its narratives by using both word and symbol.

Also: Stories of the local intersection of gospel+art with Ron Cole (Weary Pilgrim) and Ernest Morrow (UVic Anglican Chaplaincy).

Saanich Community Church hosts the conference's annual evening of live music, poetry and this year's art show. This year's show is promising a plethora of performances (poetic, musical) over a backdrop of local visual art, sculpture and more! The event gets underway promptly at at 7pm with performances right off the top - so if you're not a full-conference-registrant, make sure to show up early for the doors.

Carla Funk: “Rock, water, stars”: A poetry workshop linking the personal metaphor, the fuel of the Divine and the call of the artist

Jamie Howison: The missional side of art and music in the church, focussing on the experience at St Benedict's Table

11:30 – 12:15 Workshops part 2

Ernest Morrow: Contemplative Prayer Workshop: Launching off the morning's introduction, this is a more in depth exploration of the Christian tradition of contemplative prayer with an eye to reclaiming this scriptually based and classical Christian spiritual practice on our 21st century journeys to live the Gospel.
OR
Gord Johnson: "Developing More Contemplative and Prayerful Music for Worship". A Songwriters workshop touching on how music and lyrics relate to each other, suggstions for kickstarting a tune, and uniqueness of worship music with a focus on a more contemplative style.

Jason Nobel: "Visual Worship: Approaches to Exhibiting Visual Art In/Around the Sanctuary" OR
Matthew Davidson: "The Located Self: Creativity , Identity and Meaning" A discussion about personal authenticity in creativity. An attempt to locate the authentic creating self within the body of Christ.

2:30 Local Stories:
James Nesbitt – visual artist
Christine Neufeld - Poasis update: ongoing ecumenical services/events for Lent, Advent, etc

2:50 – Final Group workshop by Jamie Howison and Gord Johnson : "Principles and ethos of creating a "hear the silence" style of liturgy.
